What is KinnosaONE?

KinnosaONE is a family Engineering Document Management software products, built on industry standards, that streamlines design activities by removing common documentation "breakdowns" and automating repetitive manual processes. The 'ONE' refers to an Open Native Environment and the need for engineering departments to become part of a unified document environment with the balance of the enterprise for total collaboration. The KinnosaONE family consists of Kinnosa, Korrigo and Kinnosa Workflow.

The Wall.

The document management needs of engineers are more complex than those of the greater enterprise. Manual approaches to document management (such as files, folders and emails) and enterprise content management (ECM) solutions fail to address engineering's rigorous data management requirements. Proprietary data vaults and disparate environments force engineers to "throw CAD release packages over the Wall" to the other groups in the enterprise. First Trace breaks down the Wall by offering engineers the advanced functionality required to effectively manage the engineering design process with an enterprise-compatible solution. Integration with Windows Explorer and Microsoft Office provide non-engineering users (purchasing, vendors, customers, etc.) secure and easy access to critical files across the enterprise.

Open Standards.

KinnosaONE's open standard approach allows distributed environments to become ONE Enterprise. Massive scalability, adaptability, and configurability allow KinnosaONE products to break down the traditional Wall that has divided engineering from the rest of the enterprise. Our products enable, for the first time, a single document environment for our global clients. Engineering enterprises can unlock the value of content in real–time for maximum flexibility and efficiency.

CAD Integration.

Application add-ins provide integration with major CAD tools from Autodesk, SolidWorks and Bentley Systems. Engineers can manage documents directly within the CAD tool(s) in operation. Our virtual data repository approach allows users spread across a distributed enterprise to access original documents and collaborate in real-time. Adapters with proprietary data vaults allow employees to easily access source files without replication or migration. KinnosaONE products combine the user-friendly simplicity of Windows File Explorer with advanced CAD file management. KinnosaONE products can be configured to allow marketing, procurement, and production departments to securely access important files directly or by workflow.

Creating the ONE Enterprise.

We developed two distinct Engineering Document Management product lines (Kinnosa and Korrigo) to address engineering enterprises' unique needs, based on their stage in The Evolution of Document Management. Companies without an engineering or enterprise document management strategy are labeled Stage 1. Firms with an isolated engineering solution, that is separate from a corporate strategy are in Stage 2. Korrigo was developed to serve firms in these two stages that have a primarily CAD focus and are not yet ready to move to an enterprise-wide strategy. Kinnosa was developed for firms in Stage 3 and 4, where engineering has a solution but now need greater collaboration with people and systems in the balance of the enterprise. Stage 5 is the goal – a standards-based environment for complete data unification across the engineering enterprise.
