Browse, Search, Manage
Windows Explorer is the world's most popular file organization tool, yet it fails to provide adequate document control for Engineering Enterprises™. Kinnosa is tightly integrated into Windows Explorer so you can use this familiar interface to organize, browse, search and manage important documents stored in Kinnosa.
Integration with Windows Explorer includes:
Kinnosa users have a new sub-menu embedded within Windows Explorer that is accessible by right clicking on files or folders. This customizable Kinnosa menu provides EDM functions that are always only one click away. Users never have to open another program or use another interface; everything is directly available for immediate access.
The Kinnosa menu provides the following EDM capabilities:

By right clicking on a file or folder and selecting "Properties" from the standard Windows Explorer menu, the user will be presented with a familiar properties dialog box. This dialog will provide standard file information, but will have 3 additional tabs with Kinnosa (system) Properties, Kinnosa Custom Properties and Kinnosa Security Properties.
Kinnosa allows for an unlimited number of custom properties to provide your team with massive flexibility when it comes to file metadata. Users with sufficient privileges can modify properties through this dialog box when files are checked out.

Kinnosa Security properties will indicate the user's access rights and EDM privileges for the specific file or folder.

Each tab on the properties dialog box provides additional information about the file or folder. Kinnosa Properties are essentially system properties and generally can NOT be modified by most users. Kinnosa Custom Properties can be modified by users with sufficient privileges when files are checked out. Kinnosa Security Properties provide information about the rights of the user in relation to the specific file or folder, such as the ability to read, modify and delete.
Browsing in Windows Explorer may be insufficient to find the right files. So Kinnosa is equipped with accommodating search capabilities. You can conduct Simple Searches using exact file names, partial file names, or document content.

Use the more advanced Property Search tab to conduct more exact searches based on specific criteria. You can search for files based on any property, metadata or title block information.
Kinnosa allows you to save your searches and search results for later reuse.
The recent addition of Search Folders allows you create dynamic folders of documents that meet certain criteria. The files are NOT actually stored in the search folders, but appear dynamically so that you can execute EDM functions on them directly within the Search folder.
Does it always seem to take way too long to find the right file? Contact us or request a demo immediately to see how Kinnosa delivers advanced search.
Kinnosa's powerful search function allows you to find the right files almost instantly. The image above displays the Property Search Tab where you can enter multiple criteria like queries to narrow and refine your search. Use the "Save Query" and "Save Results" buttons for later reuse to save time.

Kinnosa provides additional flexibility for user access rights and privileges by integrating and supporting LDAP and Active Directory as well as providing its own standalone authentication system. The security level provided to users will determine which files and repositories are visible and accessible.
EDM functions are limited by security levels – for example, a system administrator will have full permission while an administrative assistant may be only able to view and copy out files.
