Introducing the Evolution of Document Management

First Trace Announces Limited Release of the First Truly Distributed Document Management and Data Unification Solution for CAD and Technical Documents

April 4, 2007 – Phoenix, AZ – First Trace, Inc. announced today the launch of an innovative new enterprise document management and data unification solution for CAD, engineering and other technical documents. Kinnosa Enterprise Document Management (EDM), developed by First Trace, is being touted as the next step in the evolution of document management solutions. First Trace is currently offering a limited release of the software and plans to make a general release of Kinnosa EDM in July 2007.

Kinnosa is a platform of open services and Web 2.0 applications bundled together into Solution Packs. These bundled components are designed to address specific customer needs and problems by automating business processes, managing, and tracking critical documentation and data, enabling collaboration across the extended enterprise, and escalating potential issues to the appropriate people for corrective action.

Kinnosa Open Platform Services are web services components that can be "tied" together to interweave the software application with the business process to create custom solutions. As a business changes, Kinnosa software can be orchestrated to meet the new business needs. This agility is indispensable for economic success in today´s global economy.

Kinnosa EDM includes all of the standard features familiar to document management solutions, such as advanced search capabilities, metadata management, revision control and security features. The key differentiators of Kinnosa EDM versus other technical document management solutions are many and include:
  • Distributed document management that allows access to data across multiple locations and repositories to be accessed in a single "virtual repository" environment
  • Transparent integration with popular CAD tools such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks as well as Microsoft Office
  • Data unification of 2D, 3D and supporting design documents from new or legacy systems
  • Complete scalability of the software to size and needs of any organization
  • Inclusion of a business activity engine that automates business processes, data management and employee tasks
  • Total document traceability
First Trace has also announced that the new EDM software will be bundled with Kinnosa Workflow to provide greater process efficiency throughout the product lifecycle and engineering process. As new business needs arise, First Trace will be continually developing new Kinnosa solution packs to address these needs.
